We were honored to visit Setsuo Kano's home studio in November of 2025. Through his work, Kano Setsuo honors Ernest Fenollosa’s profound appreciation for Japanese art and its silent, spiritual beauty. Kano's work is rooted in the Japanese ideal of impermanence, continuing a vision that seeks the formless, eternal beauty present within transient moments.

Through exhibitions at sacred temples and the creation of the Zankyō (Resonance) series, the artist seeks to revive the beauty of emptiness and spiritual form that Fenollosa cherished. Setsuo Kano creates with vibrant energy and continues to create a connection between Japanese art of the past and future.
